Abstract

The on-going era is life dependent on technology. A design for protection of clothes and crops using Arduino UNO with rain water sensor. The sensors will detect the rainwater intensity and transmit the information to the microcontroller, which allows the microcontroller to make a decision and turn on the awning mechanism. The uses of an Arduino microcontroller is to provide a suitable platform for implementing an embedded control system and is possible to modify it to meet the future requirements easily and quickly. One never knows when it is going to rain. The unpredictability of rains is an underrated issue. An unpredictable shower can cause clothes drying outside to get wet and dirty. This may in turn cause an increase in use of water to wash the clothes again. While the focus of this work is primarily on this domestic issue, the scope of the work can be extended to protect crops from random showers that might otherwise prove to be a huge loss to farmers. While we see technology being used to change the way the world functions, certain domestic works continue to be untouched by automation. This work would like to bring technology to every household and save our mothers that extra worry with regards to the clothes drying on their terraces.
