Abstract

Bayu Eko Moektito or Bayu Skak is an Indonesian YouTube creator from Malang, East Java. He is a YouTuber who uses the Javanese language. He also uses other languages such as Indonesian and English. Several language skills he has resulted in code mixing and code switching in his videos. The study aims to describe the forms and causes of code mixing and code switching. It used a descriptive-qualitative approach by using the agih and matching method. The research results show that the forms and factors of code mixing and code switching in the Bayu Skak YouTube channel can be concluded that: (1) uploading the videos on the Bayu Skak Youtube channel includes the insertion in the form of the word (1 speech), phrase (2 speeches), and baster (1 speech) in English, Javanese, and Indonesian languages. (2) It is found that there are 9 examples from Javanese to Indonesian speech and vice versa and externally there is 1 example from Indonesian to English speech and vice versa. (3) The factors causing the code switching include the role identification (to explain something or a certain purpose) of 2 speeches and the desire to explain and interpret (to build intimacy between speaker and interlocutor or to identify attitudes and relationships of other individuals) of speech. (4) The factors in the speaker's habits, interlocutor, and conversation subject consist of 6, 2, and 2 speeches respectively.
