Abstract

The objective of this article is to bring contributions of psychoanalysis to think the activism in the Rural Landless Workers Movement (MST) as practices that give new meanings to past and can be enriching for the individuals. To that, we will present the contributions of the psychoanalysts Arantes (1999) and Muldworf (2000) for the study of political activism and make a brief characterization of MST and its members. We emphasize that adherence to social ideals and the prestigious place occupied by the militant in the movement enables one's narcissistic revitalization and gratification and it should not be overlooked by social movements and studies on the subject.
