Ectoparasite behavior and its effects on avian nest-site selection: Corrections and comment

Abstract

With this forum, I correct several errors in a recent article (Loye, J.E., and S.P. Carroll. 1998. Ectoparasite behavior and its effects on avian nest site selection. Ann. Entomol. Soc. Am. 91: 159-163) that detract from the important message that there are conservation implications of ignoring ectoparasites and the potentially important role they may play in affecting nest-site quality in solitary, cavity-nesting birds.
