Abstract

Possible climatic change due to an enhanced greenhouse effect is expected to have severe impacts on ski tourism. Most research in the field of climate impact research on tourism has concentrated on snow reliability and adaptation strategies of ski resorts. This paper presents results of a skiersurvey carried out in the Swiss Alps. It is shown, how skiers perceive climate change and how they think they would adapt to a period of five winters with little snow. The results discussed in this paper should be considered when operating and planning ski resorts. © Author(s) 1998. This work is distributed.
