Abstract
ABSTRAK Penggunaan membran ultrafiltrasi (UF) sebagai sistem pemisahan memiliki kekurangan yaitu terjadinya fouling pada membran akibat adanya bahan-bahan utama dalam air gambut, yaitu kontaminan biologis dan senyawa makromolekul. ABSTRACT Ultrafiltration (UF) membrane using as separation system have some of lack, that is fouling occur on membrane because of prime matters in peatwater, that is biological contaminant and macromolecular compound. One of the biggest cause of fouling is the peatwater that have low pH. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of pH toward ultrafiltration membrane performance and the effect to ultrafiltration membrane fouling. The act of determining effect of pH on membrane fouling is measuring flux of each pH and measuring UV254 that measure Natural Organic Matter (NOM) on water, and examine comparison of molecul size in peatwater with molecul weight in peat water that express with E4/E6 ratio. The research about effect of water peat pH on ultrafiltration membrane fouling was investigate. The lowest flux total is on pH 4 and the highest is on pH 6. The highest percent of NOM elimination is on pH 3 and the lowest is on pH 7. The highest E4/E6 ratio is on pH 7 that indicate the permeate is dominate molecul NOM with small size. At the lower pH, E4/E6 ratio more go down that indicate on lower pH is still have molecul with big size.
