Abstract
Mild iodination using iodine and a 30% solution of hydrogen peroxide as oxidant was performed in water. The method proved to be efficient and selective for the introduction of iodine into dimethoxybenzenes, trimethoxybenzenes, and dimethoxy- and trimethoxy-substituted acetophenones, thus significantly contributing toward a more environmentally friendly procedure than that previously reported. © Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart.
