Abstract
We would also like to express our gratitude to Project AIM poet and teaching artist, Jenn Morea, who shared her work and ideas about poetry in translation, to Shawn Lent, who supported these residencies as a Project AIM program specialist and helped us to conceptualize the three translation approaches, and to all the staff at the Center for Community Arts Partnerships at Columbia College Chicago who have supported this important work. Author Bio: Lara Pruitt, provides consultant services in project facilitation, strategic planning, professional development/coaching, curriculum/assessment and evaluation. With over twenty years of experience in education and the arts, she coaches and facilitate both groups and individuals to better educational practice. Her experience includes nine years as a classroom teacher in Chicago Public Schools in grades 2 – 8, designing inquiry based curriculum in multiple content areas. In 2002, Ms. Pruitt was hired as an arts integration specialist and later became the Director of ARTS at the CENTER of Teaching and Learning at Chicago Teacher's Center at Northeastern Illinois University. Since 2006, Ms. Pruitt has worked as an independent consultant, including the research and writing of the Arts Alliance Illinois arts education guidebook, Committing to Quality in Education: Arts at the Core, available at www.illinoiscreates.org. Currently, her practice centers on strategic planning and evaluation, including the development of outcomes and assessments for understanding and improving student learning and teacher development.
