Abstract
Diversely substituted furans can be prepared from alkynones and alkynoate esters by means of mechanistically novel cycloisomerization and reductive cyclization processes, respectively. Even tetra-substituted furans can be prepared by cycloisomerization of alkynones, or from allenyl ketones through a Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling-cyclization approach (see scheme; DMA = N,N-dimethylacetamide).
