Abstract

Reaction of heterocyclylhydrazines (1a-f) with 3-ethoxymethylenepentane-2,4-dione (2) and ethyl 2-ethoxymethylene-3-oxobutyrate (3) yields exclusively 4-acetyl-5-methyl-1-heterocyclylpyrazoles (4a-f) and 4-carbethoxy-5-methyl-1-heterocyclylpyrazoles (5a-f), respectively, in good yields.
