Abstract

A new species of Scutelleria from Northeastern Cuba is described and illustrated. Scutelleria holguinensis is placed into Scutelleria subg. Scutellaria, sect. Scutellaria and it is closely related with S. havanensis, from which it may be distinguished by being relatively few robust plants, with scattered branches, orbicular leaves and magenta flowers. Its distribution is limited to the province of Holguín and following IUCN standards, it is considered in critically endangered (CR).
