Abstract

This quasi-experimental study was conducted on 150 mothers (75 people in the experimental group and 75 people in the control group) with children under six years of age with recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) who were referred to comprehensive health centres in Abadan City. Perceived sensitivity (p = 0.66), perceived intensity (p = 0.21), perceived barriers (p = 0.15), perceived benefits (p = 0.13), perceived self-efficacy (p = 0.84), cues to action (p = 0.24), and behaviour (p = 0.12) did not significantly differ between the two experimental and control groups prior to the intervention. while after the intervention, a significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of the structures expressed. Seventy members of the test group received negative findings from repeat urine culture tests, and the results indicated a significant difference between the two groups in terms of UTI recurrence (p = 0.001).
