Quasi-isometrically embedded subgroups of Thompson's group F

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to study subgroups of Thompson's groupFwhich are isomorphic toF×ZnandF×F. A result estimating the norm of an element of Thompson's group is found, and this estimate is used to prove that these particular subgroups are quasi-isometrically embedded. © 1999 Academic Press.
