Abstract
For the purpose of reducing the uncomfortable sway motion of high-rise buildings, induced by comparatively strong winds, a tuned active damper (TAD) equipped with a new mechanism has been developed, and installed in the Yokohama Landmark Tower. Through analysis and model tests, the effectiveness, practicality and safety of TAD have been confirmed. © 1994, The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. All rights reserved.
