Abstract
This article describes some of the fine 18th and 19th century kilims that come from Sehna in Persian Kurdistan. Sehnas were among the first kilims to enter Western collections. They were highly appreciated and expensive until quite recently when simple tribal kilims emerged. The article here describes the different types of kilim and the variant of pattern that is shown throughout them. They are in general covered with intricate patterns which establish subtle, shifting colour harmonies. The colours too are subtle there is no one pattern or colour that emerges rather a very tasteful blend.
