The results of the research show, in practice in Indonesia, PSI with its social democratic ideology shows that social democrats are different from communism, this can be seen in the form of struggles carried out by PSI who struggle in a persuasive way, evolution, does not use violence (revolution), and struggles with constitutional way by participating in general elections. The programs offered by PSI are characteristic of social democrats, namely social security programs, human rights, demanding a role for the state to maintain the welfare of its people. The failure of PSI in the 1955 Election was caused by internal factors such as PSI having no cultural or religious basis, the programs and language used were not understood by the lower class.
