Abstract

Butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea) is a medicinal plant rich in secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, triterpenoids, saponins, alkaloids, and phenolic compounds. These bioactive compounds exhibit various pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hypoglycemic, and anticancer properties. This study aims to evaluate the specific and non-specific quality parameters of ethanol extract from Clitoria ternatea. The extract was obtained using ultrasonic-assisted extraction with 70% and 96% ethanol. The quality parameters assessed included soluble compound content, moisture content, residual solvent, microbial contamination, and heavy metal contamination based on the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia standards. The results indicate that the ethanol extract of Clitoria ternatea meets the required quality standards, demonstrating potential applications in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations.
