Abstract

In this paper the detection and localization of damage in vibrating plates is analysed. The new improved version of the recently developed Poincare map method based on forced response of the beams is developed and tested for rectangular plates the proposed method is compared with ones of the most popular modal based methods for damage detection: the modal displacements and modal curvatures methods. The advantages of the new offered method and its application in health monitoring of plates are demonstrated by numerical simulations.
