Abstract
Several buildings and structures built of wood are attacked by rot fungi, causing damage esthetic and structural, por these reasons is very important to know which are the microorganisms and the decay proccess developed. In this work was determinated biodeterioration models in elements of wood from the buildings located in the zone of historic conservation of Valparaíso, Chile. For this, were took samples of wood from these buildings and were evaluated by optical microscopy. The results indicated deteriorate produced by soft and white rot fungi associated with different species of Nothofagus sp., and brown rot fungi, associated to Pseudotsuga menziesii.
