Abstract

The paper focuses on the challenging need for a master as it suggests a proximity of "patronomy" and "patronymics", the meaning of which will be spelled out on the basis of Carl Schmitt's theory of names. The author reads especially Schmitt's conflictive difference between "Name" (name) and "Nahme" (taking) to illustrate how, through linguistic constitutions, legal events have, time and again, the property of being notoriously ambiguous with regard to their dependence on external influences. Finally, a new perspective on the relation of "Name" and "Nahme" will be debated and conclusions for the understanding of law will be drawn.
