Abstract

In this issue of Kidney International, van Stralen et al. have analyzed four registries to look at outcomes over up to 5 years of neonates who commenced chronic dialysis. The work provides valuable data that will help pediatric teams to counsel families with such newborns. This Commentary addresses the dilemmas surrounding the decision to start chronic dialysis in the neonate. © 2014 International Society of Nephrology.
