Abstract

In this paper authors present a European framework for planning for EU countries that have access to the sea. Maritime spatial planning will contribute to the effective management of marine activities and the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources, by creating a framework. Through maritime spatial plans, Member States can reduce the administrative burden and costs in support of their action to implement other relevant Union legislation. The Member States of the European Union are required to develop plans for zoning marine areas, until 31 March 2021.
