Economía Circular y acciones sostenibles de la MIPYME textil: Caso Tungurahua – Ecuador

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Ecuador are an important group that generates employment and develops the economy, particularly in the textile sector. There is significant productive activity associated with linear practices, which generate a high environmental impact. The transition to a circular economy model that promotes sustainability in this sector is important, but it faces economic, technological, and regulatory constraints. The objective of this research is to analyze the productive activities of the Ecuadorian textile sector and its adaptability to the circular economy model, in order to promote actions aimed at sustainable development. The research is qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive in nature. Surveys were conducted with 67 organizations in the textile sector in the province of Tungurahua, and dimensional elements of the CE model for SMEs were reviewed.  Among the main results, the use of cotton as a natural fiber and polyester as a synthetic fiber stands out in terms of material design, as well as the need to apply technological strategies and establish associative alliances.Las Micro, Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (MIPYMES) en el Ecuador constituyen un grupo importante que genera empleo y dinamiza la economía. En el sector textil se evidencia una significativa actividad productiva asociada a prácticas lineales que generan un alto impacto ambiental. La transición hacia un modelo de economía circular que impulse la sostenibilidad en este sector es fundamental; sin embargo, enfrenta limitaciones económicas, tecnológicas y normativas. El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar las actividades productivas de las MIPYMES textiles ecuatorianas y su adaptabilidad al modelo de economía circular, con el fin de promover acciones orientadas al desarrollo sostenible, la investigación es de carácter cualitativo, de tipo exploratorio descriptivo, se aplicaron encuestas a 67 organizaciones del sector textil de la provincia de Tungurahua, y revisando elementos dimensionales del modelo de EC para PYMES.  Entre los principales resultados destacan en el aspecto del diseño de materiales el uso del algodón como fibra natural y el poliéster como fibra sintética, así como también la necesidad sobre la aplicación de estrategias tecnológicas y el establecimiento de alianzas asociativas.
