Abstract

THE simultaneous occurrence of quinic and shikimic acids has been reported in several plants1-3. No definite role has been ascribed to either of these alicyclic acids in higher plants, except for participation of the former in the synthesis of chlorogenic acid4. © 1959 Nature Publishing Group.
