Abstract

This article analyses the fundamental elements of Iuri Lotman and Walter Mignolo's theories with the purpose of contrasting their conceptions about the notion of text, a key concept to understand culture as a semiotic and polisystemic complex, according to the dynamics of the diverse production camps, their agents and mechanisms.
