Abstract

The ethnobotany study is a discipline that examines the reciprocal relationship between humans and plants in the form of how humans utilize plants as foodstuffs, traditional medicines, clothing and board materials, and cultural events. Home garden in the tourism area of the Wurung Crater, Jampit Village, Bondowoso Regency has unique management and processing of plants called Karang kitri. This research aims to know the diversity of plants, to explore the perception of Karang kitri, and to know the value of medicinal uses. Data collection using the identification of plant diversity, the study of community perception with interviews, as well as analysis of value indexes to use UVs. The results showed that 80 plant species are found in 36 tribes. Community perception showed that plants in Karang kitri have a great impact on their lives and necessary to be preserved. The results of UVs' analysis showed that the highest values come from Beluntas (Pluchea indica) and Cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata) because they have several benefits such as to staple food, traditional medicine, and improving the community economy. Unique management of the home garden can be developed into new tourist destinations such as educational tours and ecotourism.
