Abstract

The Basque Country has a great forestry assets; an important proportion of the forestry surface is occupied by the monoculture of radiata pine -Pinus radiata D. Don- with a silviculture lessive with environment. In this study, the origin of the actual forest practise is analysed and some reasons of its continuity although their incompatibility with sustainable development are exposed.
