La Estadística en la Educación Superior ¿Formamos Pensamiento Estadístico?

Abstract

This paper addresses some questions about the teaching and learning process of Statistics, analyzing the relationship between the way the process is conducted and the goals to be achieved. What could be some reasonable learning expectations of a statistics student? Which of these should be accomplished in the short and long-term? Is the current set of courses consistent with the expectations of statistical thinking? What does “statistical thinking” mean? Will the current students actually adopt and apply statistics paradigms for decision making in their professional activities? Are the students changing their attitude to use and apply what they learn? What is missing about the methods to deal with variability and uncertainty in the real world?
