Abstract

Digital health literacy is increasingly important for health equity in digitized societies; however, prevailing frameworks often emphasize individual competencies and may not fully capture the intersecting linguistic, cultural, relational, and system-level constraints shaping marriage migrant women’s digital health engagement. To develop an Extended Digital Health Literacy Model (EDHLM) for marriage migrant women in South Korea by integrating Rodgers’ evolutionary concept analysis with Roy’s Adaptation Model (RAM). Rodgers’ concept analysis guided an analytic synthesis of domestic qualitative evidence on marriage migrant women’s digital health information experiences, supplemented by cross-mapping with established digital health literacy frameworks to clarify boundaries and justify extensions. The EDHLM conceptualizes digital health literacy as a multidimensional adaptive process and organizes foundational and extended domains into basic, core, and enhancing elements mapped to RAM’s adaptive modes. By challenging individual-responsibility assumptions and recentering structural, relational, and sociocultural determinants, the EDHLM provides a nursing-focused basis for equity-oriented, mode-specific assessment and staged, multilevel intervention planning in multicultural digital health environments.
