Abstract

Discusses the role of standards in the successful implementation of collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment operations (CPFR) in the food logistics industry. Creation of the Universal Product Code by the Uniform Code Council and the EAN.UCC System, a global system of standards that provides speed and efficiency to the flow of physical product and electronic information through the supply chain; Strategies in realizing the benefits of CPFR; Challenges in achieving efficient CPFR.
