Abstract
Introductory programming classes usually present high levels of re- tention and evasion. This paper explores the use of a gamified process to address the motivation issue of students in these classes. A conceptual model based on Werbach framework and the Design-thinking methodology is proposed, with a description of the phases developed in the project (immersion, ideation and pro- totyping). The results gathered from the execution of the methodology in a real class demonstrate its potential and give us leads to areas of improvement.
