Abstract

The article discusses privatization in relation to the governance of social media and the Internet in America, and it mentions constitutional remedies and individuals' civil rights and liberties in the U.S. The American federal government is mentioned, along with whistleblower Edward Snowden's decision to leak several top-secret documents regarding the U.S. National Security Agency's global surveillance programs. Big Data and technology firms such as Google Inc. and Facebook Inc. are examined.
