A mathematical formula representing the resultant magnetic moment of detrital remanent magnetization (DRM) of sediments, originally proposed by the writer, is revised based on a more reasonable assumption. Using the revised expression, the inclination error of DRM is satisfactorily interpreted as due to the effect of the spheroidal form of magnetized particles in the sediments. © 1962, Society of Geomagnetism and Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences.
