Abstract

A new parasitic copepod, Schistobrachia pilgrimi sp. nov. (Siphonostomatoida: Lernaeopodidae), is described and illustrated. The fourth species of its genus, it was found on a holocephalan, Harriotta raleighana, off Memoo Bank, New Zealand. The most characteristic feature of this species, distinguishing it from a closely similar S. chimaerae, is an adventitious branch consistently present on one of the four holdfast branches. © 1988 Crown.
