Abstract

After a brief presentation of some historical, taxonomical and biological data on the Chironidae, the third instar larva of Chiron senegalensis Hope and Westwood, 1845 is described and illustrated on the basis of larval characteristics. The systematic position of the genus Chiron Mac Leay, 1819 within the Scarabaeoidea complex is discussed.
