Abstract

New inventions begin with thorough research of existing patents, procedures, and literature related to your patented product. Using Dr. Sinha’s nasogastric tube introducer patented in April 2011 (USPTO patent number 7918841) we exemplify the design, production, patenting, and marketing of an invention from conceptualization to patent expiration. We then describe the limitations faced in commercializing the product before the end of patent life.
