Abstract

Brethesia Maia, new genus and Brethesia myrciae Maia, new species of Cecidomyiidae are described and illustrated (male, female, pupa and gall) based on material collected in Minas Gerais (Brazil). This new species induces leaf galls on Myrcia retorta (Myrtaceae). © 2009 Sociedade Brasileira De Entomologia.
