Abstract
The relative vapour pressures of sulphates important to cement clinkering have been measured using the Knudsen effusion cell technique. With this and additional information on the stability of the solid phases - especially Ca5Si2(SO4)O8 - on melting relationships and with the aid of a simplified model of circulation in the kiln, some features of the oxidized sulphur cycle are interpreted. © 1988.
