Abstract

Cosmetic rhinoplasty remains one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures performed in the United States. A surgeon must first have a thorough understanding of the surgical anatomy and the impact of surgical modification of this anatomy to nasal function. Preoperative planning and knowledge of normal nasal proportions are important before choosing a surgical technique. This chapter reviews both endonasal (closed) and external (open) rhinoplasty techniques. Anatomical modifications to predictably change nasal shape while still preserving anatomical function will be reviewed.
