Abstract

Of the six species of giant river shrimps of the genus Macrobrachium that occur in the United States, three have been found in North and South Carolina – M. acanthurus , M. ohione and M. olfersii . Very few specific localities, especially those verified by voucher specimens, have previously been reported for the Carolinas. This note reports >153 specimens of these species from 42 localities in the two states.
