There were 48 articles selected by searching online at the Virtual Health Library site, using the associated terms Nursing, WHOQOL and WHOQOL-BREF available in Portuguese, English and Spanish, in the last 10 years. The results demonstrated that the Nursing Journal of USP had the highest quantity of productions from the selection, with 10 publications. In the selected sample there was a predominance of articles published in the Portuguese language (78.2%) and using the MEDLINE database (31.5%). As for the instrument, 91.7% of the studies used the WHOQOL-BREF. It was concluded that the researches are fundamental for evaluating the quality of life of individuals using the WHOQOL instrument, and that the studies involving this issue are not saturated.
