Abstract

The argentinian energy mix shows a model dominated by fossil fuels. The interest for more diversified, and sustainable energy supply has promoted, over the last three decades, public policies that seek to boost renewable energy. This paper presents research results on energy transition in Argentina, conducted in a multidisciplinary team. The goal is to understand how a new energy map begins to take shape showing the existing possibilities as well as the remaining challenges. To that end, we explore renewable energy generation projects, using a mixed methodology with a quantitative-qualitative design. Statistical data analysis techniques, such as documentary analysis, are put into practice. In Argentina, renewable energy sources develop at different speeds, meaning that while some of them gain preeminence, others are still insignificant to the energy mix. Through this process a regional energy specialization appears.
