Abstract
The article reports on the crisis of understaffing at nursing homes in Australia. Topics discussed include the initiatives launched by aged care nurses in the country to help solve understaffing in aged care, the minimum skills mix necessary to provide safe care to aged care residents, according to a study by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF), and an Australian Law Reform Commission report asserting that lack of nurses has resulted in abuse of nursing home residents.
