Abstract

DM is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristics of hyperglycemia that occur due to abnormalities of insulin secretion, insulin work, or both. Prevention of diabetes is done with early disease detection and proper lifestyle management, especially in dietary settings.. This study aims to know the description of Knowledge, Attitudes And Diet With Diabetes Mellitus at the age of Youth in SMAN 1 Bontonompo. This research is analytic descriptive with cross sectional and quasi experimental design approach, implemented from January 2018-July 2018. Sampling technique in this research with purposive sampling consisting of 160 students of SMAN 1 Bontonompo. Data taken include aspects of knowledge, attitude and diet. Measurements were made with questionnaires and data processing using computerized with Descriptive results. The results showed 80% of students have good knowledge level while 20% of students have less knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus disease. The attitude category shows that 74.4% of students have a good attitude toward prevention of diabetes mellitus and 25,6% have less attitude toward Diabetes Mellitus disease. And in the category of eating patterns showed 71.3% of students had good regularity on diet and poor dietary regularity was 28.7%.
