Abstract

Sultamicillin, a novel compound in which ampicillin and the β-lactamase inhibitor sulbactam are linked as an ester, was administered orally to 22 cases of various infections in otorhinolaryngological field. The clinical results obtained were excellent in 4 cases, good in 8 cases, fair in 6 cases and poor in 4 cases and the effectiveness was 54.5%. Side effects were observed in 2 cases of diarrhea. Following the treatment, slight elevation of Al-p in one case, elevation of BUN in one case and elevation of γ-GTP and LDH in one case were observed. © 1985, Japanese Society of Chemotherapy.
