Abstract
THE TERM SECONDS CONTROL TECHNOLOGYSECONDS HAS WIDE-RANGING CONNOTATIONS IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING.FROM THE SIMPLEST MANUAL CONTROLS THROUGH HYDRAULIC AND PNEUMATIC TO ELECTRONIC AND FLUIDIC SYSTEMS, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE INNUMERABLE.THE AUTHOR CONFINES THIS REVIEW TO ELECTRO-PNEUMATIC SYSTEMS INCLUDING LOGIC AND FLUIDIC CONTROLS WITH EMPHASIS ON SECONDS FLUID LOGICSECONDS .SOME OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF PNEUMATIC AND ELCTROPNEUMATIC CONTROLS ARE OUTLINED, AND THEIR ADVANTAGES ARE DISCUSSED WITH AN EXAMPLE OF HOW PRODUCTIVITY CAN BE IMPROVED.THE COMPONENTS AVAILABLE ARE HIGHLIGHTED AND SOME APPLICATIONS ARE DESCRIBED.FLUIDIC CONTROLS ARE TREATED SIMILARLY, AND PNEUMATIC LOGIC SYSTEMS FOR PROCESS AUTOMATIONS ARE DESCRIBED BRIEFLY.(P.A.)
