Abstract
ABSTRACT The use of various languages in podcast titles on YouTube can vary depending on the intended audience and the context of the conversation. This study aims to describe the use of language variations in podcast titles on YouTube. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data source in this study was taken from podcast titles on the YouTube social media platform. The results of this study found the use of informal language varieties in podcast titles, namely casual language varieties and can be classified into (1) omission of the initial phoneme or initial syllable, (2) omission of the middle phoneme or middle syllable, (3) changes in graphics, (4) adding graphics, (5) using local languages, (6) using foreign language terms, (7) using abbreviations, (8) using symbols, (9) semantic changes, (10) morphological processes that are not standard , (11) numbers that replace letters, (12) use of emojis. The variety of language used in the podcast titles uses more relaxed and informal language to attract the attention of the audience and create a more relaxed atmosphere. The use of various languages in podcast titles on YouTube must be adjusted to the intended audience and the context of the conversation in order to achieve the goals of the podcast.
