Abstract

Despite there being no evidence at present that screening for prostate cancer reduces mortality, there has been a steep rise in the use of the prostate‐specific antigen test. Trials are underway that will shed light on the effects of screening and treatment in the future, but until then testing should proceed with caution. Copyright © 2009 Wiley Interface Ltd
