Abstract
Organizations are continually looking to improve their decision-making processes, and most of them are investing substantial amounts in Information Systems (IS) to support these decisions. Organizational Memory (OM) is a natural foundation for decision-making and knowledge management, but there is a lack of deepening to understand how this occurs in companies. In the research, we used the descriptive qualitative method, with the aid of interviews with a structured script for the data collection, and to analyze data, we used the content analysis technique. The results indicated that the management of Organizational Memory is a relevant topic, and the companies participating in the research demonstrated that they are trying to make it viable. The companies use the Organizational Memory when searching for information present in their databases and in the Information Systems that they use. We found that there are companies that do not yet have the habit of looking for recent information on the competition and use those that are present on the organizational memory to make decisions, making use of the availability heuristic, which can generate biases, decision.
