Abstract

The reaction of bis(fluoroxy)difluoromethane, CF2(OF)2, with cesium trifluoromethoxide, CsOCF3, in the presence of cesium fluoride forms CF3OF, CF3OOOCF3, and the new compound CF3OOOCF2OOCF3. When excess carbonyl fluoride is added, CF3OF and CF3OOC(0)F are the products. The characterization of CF3OOOCF2OOCF3is discussed along with a possible mechanism for the reaction. © 1970, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
